We hope you will use the information found
here to learn about purebred dogs. Whether you are looking for a family
companion, searching for a purebred show dog, wanting to meet other dog
fanciers, or deciding to enter a dog show, we can help!
The Alaska Kennel Club provides education and information to assist you
in becoming a knowledgeable puppy buyer and owner. We do not sell
puppies nor endorse any breeders. Instead, we provide you the
information you need in your search for the perfect companion and newest
member of your family. We also can guide you into the sport of dogs,
whether your interest is conformation, obedience, or agility.

PRESIDEN'TS MESSAGE
The Alaska Kennel Club receives hundreds of calls
throughout the year from individuals inquiring about purebred dogs. We
would like to invite you to attend one of our dog shows, where you will
have a great opportunity to watch the competition and talk to
knowledgeable people about specific breeds. These people can help you
decide if a particular breed would be the right addition to your family.
There are proper etiquettes
that should be followed at dog shows:
1. Un-entered dogs are never allowed on any show
grounds
2. Always ask the owner or handler's permission before
petting a dog
3. Baby strollers are allowed in spectator areas but
not in the aisles
4. Spectator seating will be found outside the rings
away from entrances
The judging of individual
breeds is done from the morning until early afternoon, followed by
Group judging, where the dog awarded Best of Breed represents that breed
in the individual Group competition. The first place winners of the
seven Groups then compete for Best In Show at the end of the day. You
are
encouraged to cheer for your favorites! The dogs enjoy the attention,
and work even harder to applause.

Kennel Club Rep at 346-1601.
We look forward to meeting you!
Barbara Brandt,
President.
